# Skills

> Install Validation Cloud skills so AI coding agents can manage your Node API account through the Admin API.

Skills give AI coding agents, such as Claude Code, Codex and Cursor, built-in knowledge of a Validation Cloud product and the scripts to call it. They are published in the public [validationcloud/skills](https://github.com/validationcloud/skills) repository.

## Available skills

| Skill | What it does |
| - | - |
| `admin-api` | Manages Node API endpoints, checks your plan, quota and usage, lists supported chains and looks up compute unit costs, all through the [Admin API](/nodeapi/about/admin-api-keys). It can also write `curl`, JavaScript, Python or Go snippets, or add a small Admin API client to your project. |

## Before you start

The `admin-api` skill authenticates with an Admin API key. Admin API keys are available on the Scale and Private plans.

1. Create a key on the [Admin API keys page](https://app.validationcloud.io/api-keys). See [Admin API](/nodeapi/about/admin-api-keys) for scopes.
2. Add the key to your shell profile, so it is set before your agent starts:

   ```bash theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark-default"}}
   echo 'export VC_ADMIN_KEY=<YOUR_ADMIN_KEY>' >> ~/.zshrc
   source ~/.zshrc
   ```

   If your agent is already running, restart it.

## Install

    Run these commands inside Claude Code:

    ```text theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark-default"}}
    /plugin marketplace add validationcloud/skills
    /plugin install admin-api@validationcloud
    /reload-plugins
    ```
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="Other agents">
    Clone the repository:

    ```bash theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"github-dark-default"}}
    git clone https://github.com/validationcloud/skills.git
    ```

    Then have your agent read `plugins/admin-api/skills/admin-api/AGENTS.md`, the skill's portable entry point. The skill needs `bash` and `curl`. `jq` is optional and pretty-prints responses.
  </Tab>
</Tabs>

## Check it works

Ask your agent "Check my admin key". It replies with your plan and the key's scope (Read or Read & Write).

## Example prompts

* "List my RPC endpoints."
* "What's my compute unit usage this month?"
* "How much does `eth_call` cost on Ethereum Mainnet?"
* "Create an Ethereum Mainnet endpoint called `prod-eth`." This needs a Read & Write key, and the agent asks you to confirm first.
* "Give me a Python client for the Admin API."

## Safety

* The skill never writes your key to disk, and shows at most its last 4 characters.
* Creating or deleting an endpoint needs your confirmation before it runs. Deleting an endpoint can't be undone.
