What is Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)?

Plan restrictions: None, available to all users on all plans Two-Factor Authentication (2FA), also called Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), adds a second step when you sign in to the Validation Cloud platform at app.validationcloud.io. 2FA is optional and per user. If configured and enabled for a user, after entering a password, you confirm it’s you with one of:
  • Authenticator app: one-time codes from an app such as Google Authenticator, 1Password or Authy.
  • Device biometrics: Touch ID, Face ID or Windows Hello on the device you set it up on.
  • Security key: a hardware key such as a YubiKey.
You can enable 2FA whether you use email/password to sign in to Validation Cloud, a Google Sign In, a Microsoft account or GitHub. Each person in a team needs to enable it for their own login. It protects the platform sign-in as Node API, Staking and Mavrik share the same login. It does not apply to Node API endpoint keys or Admin API keys, which are protected by the keys themselves and, for endpoints, by Allow Lists if configured, see: Allow lists.
